It's always been difficult for me to fully grasp The Cultural Revolution.

This book is incredible. I can say that after reading this book, I grasp (as much as possible w/o having lived it) what it must have been like to grow up during The Cultural Revolution, especially for someone w/ an artistic and creative mind. I even have a greater appreciation for music. I'm so very glad I read this book. Zhu Xiao-Mei's outlook on life has affected my own and no other book I've ever read has done the same. Fabulous book.
