I read a lot of depressing graphic novels, so this was a pleasant departure. (I plan on reading Craig Thompson’s epic Habibi soon, but I have to emotionally prepare first.) Reunion is the type of awkward fare for people who like Flight of the Conchords or the collected works of Michael Cera. The drawing is simple and reminded me of the Sunday comics, which I thoroughly liked. It’s translated from French and set in Quebec, so you get all kinds multicultural foibles. There’s a particularly charming subplot about the protagonist’s wart as well.
