There is a gentle humour in this book rather than a laugh out loud experience. The follies of Mr Pooter are not in the same league as the Three Men in a Boat which I finished recently and enjoyed more. I found myself at turns sorry for and irritated by Mr Pooter and his punning and there were for me only a few moments of genuine mirth.
