it was amazing
bookshelves: horror

I read this book in 1980 when I was just a kid. I had learned of the Amityville Horror from my mother's "newspaper".... the National Enquirer. Armed with all the "facts" from the paper, I got the book from the local used bookstore. What a great read!

Of course, the so-called "real haunting" complete with a gateway to hell is total BS. The writer threw every 70s horror cliche into the mix. Demonic possession was definitely the "in thing" in 70s horror. The whole thing was billed as a factual account. It's really just some made-up crap, which was obvious to me even when I was just twelve.

I gave this book five stars because I loved it and it left an impression on me to this day. That's probably because I was so young when I read this. I bet if I read it now I couldn't make it past the first twenty pages.
