Great-- wishing modern horror would recapture this style, the art of leaving the darkest to the imagination. Recommended.

Karen Been meaning to read this. Let me know if how you like it.

Megan S Spark Will do. The reviews I have read are mixed, but its referred to so often as a classic of the genre, I feel I need to have it 'under my belt'. :)

Karen I also want to read "The White People" by Machen.

Megan S Spark I've planned to read it next. Noticed at manybooks that someone said its better to read "The White People" before "Pan"; altho it was written ten years after, its a prequel of sorts... But I had already started Pan so I decided to carry on. ;)

Karen So you are using ManyBooks.net? Good source along with Gutenberg. There is another site I use a lot for Kindle downloads. The formatting is excellent. I use it for my Anthony Trollope books and Dickens too but they have quite a variety. This link takes you to a page filtered for the Kindle (mobipocket) format.

You can search by author or you can filter by genre.

Karen Forgot to mention that you do not have to join the forum to download at Mobileread.com. They have books in different languages too so check you are downloading in English, lol.

Megan S Spark This is great, I hadn't seen that site! thanks!!

Karen I learned about it on the Dickens group. One of the members has formatted some of the books on this site.
