Hot, Flat, and Crowded: Why We Need a Green Revolution--and How It Can Renew America
by Thomas L. Friedman
by Thomas L. Friedman
In Hot, Flat, and Crowded Friedman introduces readers to an ongoing energy crisis that the world is facing, and how it's tied in with climate change and environmental conservation. As the world is entering a new era which he dubbed the "Energy-Climate Era," Friedman talks about the the world's obsession and consumption of fossil fuels and the consequences that follow suit, using a tone that sheds to light the severity of the situation. He then proposes that the U.S has to lead the world towards a "Green Revolution," which entails a major renovation of how energy is produced and distributed.Backing up his proposal with solid ideas and extensive research that includes expert interviews and articles from a wide variety of sources, Friedman is able to make clean technology seem effective and affordable in an attempt to appeal to a diverse audience which includes economists, politicians, humanitarians, conservationists, business executives as well as the average citizen. In all, this book is basically a call to "rally the troops" and if anyone is interested in the subject, which they should be, reading this would be a great place to start.
