really liked it

I loved this book, but I can completely understand why other fans didn't. It is very much UNLIKE Funhome, which was brilliant. Going in expecting something similar does not work. This is not a book about Alison Bechdel's mother, but rather a book about Alison Bechdel herself. It doesn't even really follow a linear narrative, but is instead a collection of anecdotes and thoughts about Bechdel's upbringing and years of therapy.

I liked it because it was brainy, interesting, and challenging. It helps that I am a fan of everything Bechdel has done so far, which meant I was actually interesting in learning more about her personal inner life. It's not for everyone, but I had a great time reading it.
