I use this book in preschool because it deals with separation anxiety, bedtime, and the parent-child bond (or caregiver - not every child has his/her parent there). Kids love it because it is silly, sweet, and they learn that Mama Lama returns at the end. Using it for my CDA class resources. Wonderful book that makes kids laugh, helps them learn about parental love and trust in a safe environment. It's a good book to "act out" as you are reading it to children because it helps them to engage in the process and work through their fears, while learning to laugh at their fears, talk about them, and relax at the same time.

One suggestion .... be mindful if you know you have a child who lost his/her mother, or children with military parents on deployment, or grandparent caregivers, or other caregiving situations. You can't accommodate every situation, but just be aware of sensitive situations and try to allow for that in discussions - the book could bring up some sensitive issues.
