It's like CSI but with vampires. I love fantasy because it takes me out of real-world violence and police work and into another realm. I enjoy books where the focus is on the adventure and the problem solving, not the violence -- that's what this book felt like -- true blood, but in book form. The Sookie Stackhouse books, in comparison, have violence, but those scenes read like action and then we move on. There isn't this long description of the gore.
