BEWARE. I DON'T FLAG SPOILERS. BUT I DON'T PUT MY REVIEWS OUT ON ANY FEED, EITHER.

It took me quite a long time to read this. Felt the initial portion -- before the main players cross paths -- took too long, and yet I was always referring back to it as I read on.

I did figure out at some point who the gardener was -- probably just about the time Wambaugh wanted me to.

The legal unraveling portion is vital, and yet at times boring -- which seems to accurately convey the slow pace and tortured path of the actual events.

For me, this book opened a new dimension to "true crime" writing. Amazing.

Made me want to know when/how Wambaugh connected with the diverse players well enough to debrief them, apparently over repeated sessions.
