Recently I have read several books set in a dystopian society in a future America, with a strong female protagonist who doesn't quite fit in, and that are part of a series, where the first book doesn't come close to finishing the story - first there was The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, then Uglies by Scott Westerfeld, and now Divergent by Veronica Roth. In the book you have to choose to be part of 1 of 5 factions - Abnegation, Amity, Candor, Dauntless or Erudite. Part of me wishes that the first letters of the names of the factions were A B C D E, instead of A A C D E! Beatrice, later just Tris, was born in Abnegation but chooses Dauntless. She, though, is actually Divergent, not fitting completely into either faction (aren't we all?). Then there is a war. That was my main problem with the book - it was just too violent for my taste. In case you're interested, I would totally be in Abnegation. And I'm serious!
