Very beautifully written story of innoncence trumped by evil.

The writer's fondness for his voices is evident throughout as he lets them tell their stories in their time and their language. Lovingly crafted characters.

Terrific sense of time and place.

Reminded me of Larry Watson.

This book is so moving and I will remember Jess for a long time.
