Ellis' flair for writing grabbed me straight away. I really admired how he played with narrative voice and perspective in the opening chapter, and again to illustrate Patrick's increasingly tenuous grip on reality and sanity later in the novel. 'American Psycho' is funny and cruel in every sense of both words, and I loved it.
