really liked it

Eleven The Hardest Way is a collection of physically visceral, detailed and honed crime stories that reach into the gut and keep going. It is also full of moments of a wry humour that fits well with the thematic material. The pressures that weigh on people in their lives, their fears, are analysed and placed deftly within the narrative structures Smith spins. ‘Attacking A Nation’ captures this mood brilliantly. Smith is a writer with a strong voice who catches the attention and holds it. I am looking forward to more works from him.
