When it's bedtime for the little red chicken, she wants to hear a bedtime story. Papa is willing, but only if she doesn't interrupt. Of course, being very interested in the story, the little red chicken does what she does so often, and interrupts.

INterrupting Chicken is a picture book. The setting of the picture book is in the house of the little red chicken. Being bedtime, the little red chicken and her papa are getting ready to sleep and he is reading her bedtime stories. The characters in this story are the little red chicken and her papa. You can see that the little red chicken is a bundle of energy through her actions of interrupting in the stories. She's also got a mind of her own by the things she says when she interrupts. Papa is calm and willing to read, but eventually gets a bit tired of being interrupted. The plot of the story is that it is bedtime and the little red chicken wants to have bedtime stories read to her. However, there is the conflict between her and her papa because she continues to interrupt. After interrupting three stories, the little red chicken and papa come to a conclusion and the conflict is solved. The theme of this story is patience. The little red chicken cannot wait for her papa to finish the story. In the end, she gets to read and see how not interrupting can help finish a story. Third person point of view is used in this story. It is used effectively through conveying both the little red chicken's anxiousness in having the story told and papa's annoyance from the little red chicken constantly interrupting. Images are conveyed perfectly through the pictures. Being a Caldecott Honors Book, the pictures are fantastic. They are funny and convey the story well.

I really enjoyed this book. It was very cute and the pictures really were fantastic. I think it's a great story to read in class because a lot of chilren will want to interrupt stories and you can teach them the lesson that it's not a nice thing. I personally think it would be fun to read with younger students because they will be able to predict that the little red chicken is going to interrupt and it could be a very interactive text.
