HOW IS THIS BOOK SO GOOD?!

I loved it, I loved it, I loved it! I want to do nothing but type in all caps and exclamation points, but I will behave, I will try to control my outpouring of emotion. It's just - it's just WONDERFUL. (oops, sorry) - it's a retelling of the story of Patroclus and Achilles, fostering together, falling in love, and then growing up with Chiron and then on the field of battle at Troy and it is just perfect. Absolutely, exactly what I wanted, and I did not even know that I did. Beautifully written, beautifully told, heartbreaking, wonderful. Patroclus was amazing and just the most wonderfully empathetic character ever, and Achilles was ... he was real, their love was the only thing that humanized him, and it was just a glorious, glorious book.

I want this to win the Orange Prize. I want this to win ALL THE THINGS.
