I love what this book suggests about shared points of reference, the tension between the generic and the particular in each of "our" stories, the function of substitution in the act of remembering/making memory, the way language soothes/fails to soothe. Her repetition that makes the reader stumble, troubling the seduction of memoir--not allowing one to get caught up in the story, but always reminding us the story is being constructed before our very take care fake bear torque cakes!
