I was disappointed in first 1/2 part of this whole book. The plot was far-fetched and unsatisfying. I truly disliked Vassily’s mother. What kind of a mother marries just for her son sake and then she doesn't even check out if she married a criminal or not. Truly unsatisfying.
Vassily was drawn to meek and shy, at least at the start. When Vassily is forced to seek out the criminal Baba Yaga for his stepfathers sake this storyline turned for the better. From this point on I enjoyed the story. I liked Sumi (Sumerki) as a character. Vassily and Sumi romance was well written and pulling.
