did not like it
bookshelves: abandoned, adult-fantasy

Oh, I wanted to like this:

1) The first book was pretty good with a fairly fresh take on the post-zombie apocalypse.

2) Animal zombies!

3) Conspiracy, fighting zombies, politics and other essential ingredients.

But, damn, why people gotta write so much? Repetitive, dawdling between action sequences, enamored of chapter epigraphs: this book quickly began to bore me. Shaun mentions every few pages that he's CRAZY! because his DEAD SISTER KEEPS TALKING TO HIM! Okay, I got that the first three times it was mentioned and didn't need the subsequent sixth, seventh, oh gawd she ain't ever gonna stop talking about this is she?

I admit it, I'm weak. Zombie eat brain but cannot stomach six hundred pages of redundancy mixed with short bursts of plot.

Editors! Ready your knives and beat back this growing trend of too-long books.
