I haven't read this in so many years but recently bought this edition which I was coveting for its design. Since I couldn't stand the thought of owning a book in which I never actually cracked it's spine I chose to read Great Expectations for Dickens' 200th birthday anniversary. In hindsight I think I should have spent my time reading something I haven't read (Bleak House). I was reading it and things would come back my to memory and I would think "I know what's coming" but my foreknowledge didn't make me less anxious, frustrated, depressed or laugh-out-loud then if I had never read it. There are 4 paragraphs in the middle of page 276 that, I think, are hilarious. I don't know if Dickens meant to be humorous but it comes across that way to me.
