really liked it
bookshelves: fiction

Cryptonomicon ruined my expectations, really. Still damn fun, though, both as an infodump and as a (mostly mindless) thriller...

[Near enough 4 stars despite 1044 pages, despite feeling like a screenplay waiting to happen... dropped to 3.5 stars because it's not Cryptonomicon. Damn you, Stephenson, damn you.]

Vahid I haven't gotten around to reading this yet and I even went to the book launch. Dammit, Stebbins.

(Have you worked your way through the Baroque Cycle yet? Good swashbuckling fun with the ancestors of the characters in Cryptonomicon, which I thought put me off at first because I thought it was cheesy but the whole thing is just so well done.)

Matt Have not ready the Baroque Cycle yet... it's definitely on my to-read list, though. :)

(I feel like I should inform you that Smitty dug Readme pretty hard (he just finished it, too, a couple of days before I did), so you know you definitely have to have read it before you come visit us all in ze 'Chee... and no, that's not an excuse to not visit.)
