it was amazing

Marvelous, smart, terrific book. I gobbled it up. It's crime but in a very fresh way. It's literary but in a not-annoying way. It is about psychology and inner rage and being bound up in where you are and where you come from. And it's spot-on about impulse and the parts of ourselves we experience in split-second flashes. The writing fairly crackles and it is funny and frightening and completely compelling. Not so much about marriage per se but about who we are and the sacrifices we make to ourselves to live our lives. And what happens when other people get in the way. So it's about marriage in a rather self-focused, fiercely honest way. Which is why it is so incredibly absorbing, and striking.
