'The perfect Layman prose guide to the history of the world' I think is a better description.

Either way I thought this book was brilliant. I'm surprised that I've never come across something like it before. I've always taken an interest in the history of our universe and life but never can be bothered to trawl through text books.

I can't pick any faults with this book really. I didn't like how Bryson (like most writing on the subject of life) made it sound as though life is only one thing and that's the thing we are doing. I think the subject, the being of 'life' is much more varied than just us, being alive on Earth. But apart from that, fantastic.
