Barbara Minnick's Reviews > The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business
by Charles Duhigg (Goodreads Author)
This is not a self-help book! The info is amazingly well researched and covers the instinct of habit formation, how it differs for humans v. animals, how habits can be used for, by, and against us. The author looks at the science and social aspects of habit from a number of angles that I had never considered. Tony Dungy - sports king of habit, and I had no idea. Febreze, Target, how habits are formed and stored, how tiered social habits affect us socially and in business situations and how they can change, and finally, how you my be able to look at your own habits and find ways to alter them are all covered and supported with extensive research.
The Power of Habit is incredibly well supported by background information and footnotes but will not put you to sleep. Some sections may drag a bit in areas where you find your interest does not lie, but the information presented is always interesting and ties in with other areas of the book. Overall, very enlightening for anyone looking for insight into human behavior, or curious as to why we do what we do.
