All set in a post-apocalyptic world there are familiar themes in this book as other dystopian novels. Yes, there are zombie-like creatures. Yes, there is fighting, sickness and death. There are however, a few interesting takes in this novel. I liked the idea of these different enclaves, tribes or communities existing. Without mass communication they could easily exist without knowledge of each other.

What would life be like if you've never been above ground? What kind of rules would society impose?

This was an easy read, interesting enough to keep my momentum going and I will be reading the next book in the series when it comes out.
