bookshelves: vaginal-fantasy
Read in April, 2012

OK! So I'm giving this 5 stars even though it should be 4 for the following reasons: the first 20% is a little slow, and the last chapter is kinda weirdly put together. BUT I will say I LOVED THIS and it's only 2.99 self-published, I picked it up randomly, so my expectations weren't that high and I was forced to obsessively read this so wow, pardon me while I add an extra star for those reasons! :D

This is a VERY SIMILAR book plot-wise to one of my VERY favorite books, Darkangel by Meredith Pierce:
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/92... (Which is still one of my fave all-time, more YA leaning than this though, so this is kinda the sexy-time version of that)

And it's pretty much the same-ish plot as a recent book by Nalini Singh "Lord of the Abyss":
http://www.goodreads.com/book/show/10... Which I didn't enjoy that much (3 stars pretty much).

Girl who is plain and unconfident is apprenticed/enslaved to a powerful, dangerous and outcast uber-dude who falls for him against all sense. OK so I love this plot so I was already a sucker for it, and I loved the way it played out in this book! There was interesting world-building, there were GREAT characters (which is the most important thing). I dunno, I was so surprised that I loved this so much and bravo for it getting out there, and WOW there were yummy scenes everywhere and I kind of loved the main heroine a ton. SOOO I'd say if you want a great vaginal fantasy try it out!!! WOOT

Cherish Okay, you've made it sound so fantabulous that I'm, now, gonna HAVE to read it! The plot sounds just up my alley, too ;)
And thanks for the warning re:slow to start, etc. Good to know.

There are a few weird time jumps that aren't set up great, and the kindle edition doesn't page break chapters which doesn't help but yeah, worth sticking around for.

In other words, don't look for literary greatness, but don't miss out on the fun, just because of some inconsistencies? I think I can manage that. I'll see if I can find a copy, this weekend.

Tim Sexson Jeez, I really hate no chapter breaks, makes ithard to find a good stopping point, especially in a long book.

Tim Sexson Oh and you shouldn't be shy or weirded out about this stuff. Yeah, I saw that interview. Hey, I read them and have no shame. I'm big on any fantasy or historical stories that take place before 1920, no matter how bloody, sexual, or combination of both(oh yes, they are out there

Cherish Tim wrote: "Jeez, I really hate no chapter breaks, makes ithard to find a good stopping point, especially in a long book."

Agreed. Then I end up staying up till all hours, my health and relationships fail... I mean, really, couldn't they just take a natural break, every now and again, and give us poor, hungry mortals a chance to rest?

message 11: by Tim (new)

Tim Sexson Sorry. Anyways, anybody who says otherwise should get a giant middle finger and a swift breaking kick to the nether regions. LOL! I had a friend once tell me I would make a good warrior in the past or a fantasy universe LOL!

Peta £1.87 in the UK - I'll have that! Thanks for the review - was after something fun to read this weekend.

Sandy Williams So there's a big romantic subplot in this fantasy? That sounds great! I haven't read any fantasies with a good romance thrown in. I haven't exactly looked for them, though. Have no idea why b/c I love fantasy and romance.

Cherish Christine, you can find Eternal Pleasure in audio format or in used books on Amazon, if you're still interested.

Kenneth Clause 4 for the spegitti (sp) {FUautospell[ i western of romance, with an original setting? Loveed the characters, hated the pacing needs more plot action.... yep not sorry I read it _P again

Marcus I read this for the Vaginal Fantasy hangout Felicia and gang post on her YouTube channel. This was my first time joining in and I am glad I did! Amazing book Miss Day! Now on to Poison Study

message 20: by Jim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jim Yep I enjoyed this book. Looking forward to the discussion.

message 21: by Jim (new) - rated it 5 stars

Jim I think the secondary characters are so well drawn and fun, that they make up for some of the weaknesses of the main plot.

Cherish Felicia et al, I am SO enjoying this book! It's engaging, well crafted in character and world development, it's intelligent and it's steamy. I love it! great pick!

message 23: by Emma (new) - rated it 5 stars

Emma I must have been distracted when I started reading this because it took ages before I really got into it. OH MY GOD!!! I am reading it right now I have goosebumps, sitting at the library information desk and when people need help I want to scream “NOT LIKE THIS” at them.
