I've read almost all of Bishops books out of loyalty to her earlier work. Out of all of her books this one probably falls somewhere in the bottom of the middle

This is the third in her Ephemera series and picks up soon after the last one ended. It follow Lee, the brother of Glorriana Belladonna - who has returned from battling the eater of the world.... There is a whole lot of back story but the premise is that Lee is dissatisfied with his lot and when setting out one day in a bad mood finds himself captured and tortured in a world he didn't even know existed.

The prose was a bit corny and romantic and the plot dragged a fair amount at times. Also. The boon didn't really have a peek and kind of mudslides about.

I still finished it and still enjoyed it, but the book felt like filler until the next one.
