Really enjoyed this one. Picked it up initially because I thought the conceit of having a paraplegic character in a post-apocalyptic setting seemed pretty interesting. I wasn't necessarily expecting it to delve into the idea of identity and what it means to be human.

All of the press I've read points to the twist ending, but honestly, that was the weakest part of the book for me personally. It didn't come as a surprise and I think it was maybe the least thought provoking way to close the story. I doubt it was intentional, but I very much got a similar vibe to the way the Dark Tower series ended.

That said, the writing is excellent and the thrill of the journey far more than made up for what, to me, was a slightly unsatisfying destination...
