it was ok
bookshelves: fantasy, ya
Read in August, 2008

Haunting story with some great characters, particularly Polly and Tom Lynn; however, the pacing is erratic (very slow in the beginning, too fast at the end), and the conclusion is hard to follow. Very different from Jones' other work (the closest I can think of would be Homeward Bounders) in that it's dark, difficult, and starkly honest about the characters' relationships. A bit of the usual DWJ humor is there, but it's hard to find. Her other work is much more engaging.
