really liked it

There exists a small sub-culture of people addicted to books about mountain climbing expeditions. Unfortunately I fall into that category, but I think anyone interested in human endeavour, travel and personality conflicts would like this. This is a classic book describing the successful 1950 French expedition to Annapurna, the first ascent of an 8000 m peak. However, it's a fantastic story as Nepal was undiscovered and they were literally mapping the region trying to find the mountain in order to climb it. The climb ended in some intense drama and is written with a fair bit of French pomp and flair. It's a little gem and after what they went through, it makes you want to read it again once you've finished.
