On the Road was on my "must read" list for anglo-american literature studies at university so I was a little bit sceptical about this book since I do not like compulsory reading. But once I started reading it, I could not put it down. The book has energy, its own spirit and reading it was really unforgettable experience for me.
The storyline is almost impossible to describe, you have to read it yourself. The characters are realistic and believable, trying to enjoy their lives as much as possible. Story is based on several trips across US, focusing mainly on internal problems of main characters and finding their place in the world.
It captured me right from the beginning and I enjoyed it a lot. I would recommend this "Beat generation bible" to everyone. If only all literary classics would be so likeable!
