I too read this book as a child. As the oldest sister, I generally related to Beezus, Ramona's older sister, much better. Ramona's relationship with her father is amazing. And what makes it even more special is that Ramona's father has his own set of problems. Ramona and her father work together to help each other solve their problems.

Like Ramona, I have stick straight brown hair. My friends tease me and tell me that I have Ramona Quimby hair, especially when my hair is wet. I am horrified by the idea of the crown of thorns because I can only imagine how much that would hurt.
