I don't normally read this type of "hard-boiled" mystery, but it was recommended to me by my father and I actually enjoyed it quite a lot. It's set in Louisiana and the main character is just fantastic to read about. He's much more flawed than most characters I am introduced to, but I still liked him quite a lot. James Lee Burke has a way with words and an ability to build living characters, skills that I admire greatly. The mystery was good too!
