Read in August, 2008

Definitely an improvement over the previous book, Pandora's Daughter. I do wish Johansen would expand on characters more, especially ones that are brought from other books. She assumes the reader has already read the prior books which will not always be the case.

I never noticed it before because I'd only read her books every now and then but after these two, and reading many others by various authors, I've really discovered how little variation there is in Johansen's characters. They're either extremely vulnerable or beyond headstrong, determined and full of attitude. A little middle ground would make things a bit more realistic and believable.

Oh, and I'm so proud, she added another word to her swear vocabulary. It's not just dammit anymore...but bullshit. Way to go with the strethcing the mind.

I'm done with Johansen...unless it's another Eve Duncan...can't help but like her storyline.
