Privileged, entitled, supremely careless – the kids at Bellingham Academy (a third-chance school for kids who have already been kicked out of other elite private schools) are hard to like. Even Jason, the narrator, who is trying to become a more conscientious individual, is still occasionally cruel. But they are also intriguing as they ride in their limos, hook up at lavish parties and sail their boats directly from their private docks. The element of a somewhat mysterious death adds a bit of an edge to this coming-of-age (or is that coming-into-money?), choosing your sexuality story that is well-written and kind of addictive. I was rooting for Jason to distinguish himself and stayed up late to find out if he did.
