Read for YA SLIS course, YALSA Nonfiction Award Winner.

I'm embarrassed that I knew absolutely nothing about Janis Joplin before I read this. I didn't even know she was the first one to sing "Me and Bobby McGee" ::hangs head in shame:: That being said, this was an enjoyable introduction to the singer. It skimmed her early life and spent the majority of the pages on her all-too-brief career. Loved the photos, news clippings, and old advertisements as illustrations. Gorgeously designed book.
