Beautiful illustrations that appear to be created like a scrapbook adorn the sweet story of an immigrant puppeteer who takes his life-long love of puppetering to a new level after he partners with the Macy’s department store in New York City. We watch as Tony Sarg grows in talent and determination. He begins working for Macy’s as a window designer, is then assigned to create a parade and finally designs the helium balloons made of rubberized silk that are still used annually in Macy’s parades today. Informative and fun this is a must have for any elementary school library and would make a lovely gift for any family that gathers to watch the Thanksgiving Day parade.
