First I should mention that this book is my husband's record of his and some of my experience as Peace Corps volunteers in Bulgaria, so reading it was a very personal experience for me. I enjoyed it as a retrospective of that time in our lives 10 years ago. What anyone can enjoy just as much, though, is his description of the country and the Peace Corps experience. Especially vivid is the gentle and loving characterization of the Bulgarian people, their openness, and their way of life. Their sharing of resources, interests and stories were vividly called to mind. Their beautiful country, given to them from God's personal treasure, was beautifully described. I think I'll read it again and again annually.

Jana Nice comments, Stormy. I remember reading Bruce's lengthy and vividly detailed emails while you two were in Bulgaria; and how I looked forward to the next. It was wonderful he had those to remind him of the details of your experience when he was writing this book. And it was wonderful for this reader to run into many of those memories again in reading this beautiful book. What sn experienc, and what a gift that you can relive it again and again and the rest of us can go along with you this way!!
