really liked it

I think this book worked on me exactly the way it was meant to. In the beginning, I couldn't stand Sam and her friends, but in the end you got to know everyone and their motivations a bit better, and understood them, whether or not you liked them. The overall story was predictable, but there was a nice flow, some lovely moments, and a satisfying (enough) ending. In the beginning, I didn't think I'd end up liking the book or any of the characters, but I was pleasantly surprised.

One thing Lauren Oliver has done really well is conjured up the feeling of being a teenager, in all its exhilarating, cringe-inducing glory. This book made me think of my best friends from high school, and all of the jocks and weirdos and nerds I knew when I was 16. It addressed a lot of important issues as well, and not in a 'very special episode' kind of way.
