Volume one of The Ring, a manga based on the novel by Koji Suzuki, follow Reiko as she investigates the rumor about a video that once watched the viewer will die exactly one week from the time they watched the video. Once she finds the video in question, out of curiosity Reiko watches it and winds up in a race against time to find out the history behind the film and to stop her imminent death. The art is very dark, which works well with the tone of the story, and the translation is well done. Perhaps the scariest part of the story is the surprise ending. It is definitely worth reading.
