I kinda knew I wasn't going to like this, but I read it anyway because the blurbs for Ashley's books do a shitty-ass job of encapsulating the plots.

Now, romantic suspense isn't exactly my cup of tea to begin with, but I think part of the problem is that I was pretty confused for most of the book. There is a LOT going on and what I didn't figure out until about halfway through the book (which was about 350! pages in) is the main characters' ages. The heroine is 42 and the hero is 44. The narrative in this book isn't exactly linear and there are many instances where the characters know something, but the reader hasn't been clued in yet. This got frustrating.

I feel like, given the characters' age and their lives, this could have been a really great coming-together/romantic suspense crossover, but the book got badly bogged down in a number of places. As much as I like Ashley's writing, I think For You could have benefited from some ruthless editorial trimming.
