really liked it
bookshelves: dystopia, science-fiction, ya, guy-reads

This is definitely one of the more interesting dystopian stories I've read recently, possibly because it has a juicy sci-fi element to it that made it interesting and more thought provoking. In the future, the human race is dying out because of a virus called RM that kills infants in the first three days they are born. RM was a virus released by the Partials, a race of "partial-humans" created to fight but end up fighting against humanity, almost wiping them out completely. Kira Walker who is a medic working in the maternity ward is sick of watching babies die, and hatches a plan to capture a Partial to study it's immunity to the virus. There are definitely some interesting twists and turns that were unexpected and the viral/science aspect was pretty interesting as well. I also liked that even though it is intended to have sequels, as so many YA novels do these days, there was still a satisfying ending.
