I read this book in two days. I couldn't put it down. I got really wrapped up in it. I thought Stockett did a great job building suspense, which kept me wanting to read on. I also thought she really pulled off the convention of different chapters from different points of view. I even believed the romance between Stuart and Skeeter.

It's been such a long time since I read a satisfying novel. I've been reading so much education stuff that I almost forgot how satisfying it is it read a novel. I was a little skeptical about the book because it was so popular, but I'll have to see the movie now.

Ruth I completely agree with your comments. The novel was so believable that I came away feeling that I might actually understand the two worlds. Like you, I could not put it down. I was disappointed in the movie, but in fairness, the movie didn't have the time to develop the characters and setting as the novel did.
