really liked it
Read from May 06 to 08, 2012

- Awesome, gory start with a creepy atmospheric setting
- People died in bloody messes, and the author wasn't afraid to bring a realism to the story in the death of more central characters
- The monsters were described pretty well
- The cast of characters was diverse
- The author switched between the storylines of two groups of characters, and this kept the story interesting, allowing readers to have a vested interest in two parties, despite the fact they were moving farther and farther apart

- Author continually uses, "said" after character dialogue - at least 60% of the time, which made the story difficult to read in your head, let alone read out loud as my husband and I tried to share the story with each other
- As the story went on (specifically about halfway through), the blood and guts, as well as the creepy factor and the monsters, decreased and the story lost some of its original punch

I would probably read the next in the series, but am hopeful that the author returns to crafting a story laced with more thriller-esque elements. This one did satisfy my craving for a decent zombie book, but just barely.
