My main memory of this book is that I thought it was creepy and weird when I was a kid. And it is weird (though not as creepy as I remembered. But I really loved it this time around. It's very fun to read about how Narnia began.

Side note: I hate to beat a dead horse, but no way should this be the first book in the series. After reading everything else, it's cool finding out where it all came from. Before reading the other books, finding out where it all came from is not interesting at all. Seriously, folks, read these books in the order they were originally published!
