This was a pretty good book. I gave it 3 stars because Petrucha threw everything except....(trying to remember if it was in there, too)....the kitchen sink. This is vaguely historical fiction with a pretty healthy dose of steam punk all wrapped around the Pinkerton Detective Agency redeux and Jack the Ripper come stateside. There are some fun characters and some interesting premises, but there are just so many things thrown in that nothing is sufficiently developed. The ending is also not the particularly surprising for any seasoned reader of suspense or mystery. Even so, this is a nice read and worth the time as long as your not expecting to feel your brain grow.
