really liked it
bookshelves: fiction, science-fiction
Recommended for: Nerds
Read from April 14 to 15, 2012

The first half gets 3 starts, but the stakes rose and it got more engaging. The story has SO much 'telling' in it. It doesn't totally hold the story back, but it's noticeable and there are times when the tension could have been much more if the action wasn't told so summarily. There were also a lot of 'deus ex machina' type moments where the narrator says, "Oh by the way I did this and this weeks ago which now allows me to do this."

There were some important themes brought up in the book, but most of them were not given much significance or time at all.

All in all this is a good book, a good use of virtual reality and a good plot and a good, impressive, use of nerd/pop culture content.
