I didn't enjoy this as much as I enjoyed Funke's Inkheart stories. The main character didn't really engage my interest. In fact, I found him a bit annoying, therefore I could not really build up much empathy for his plight.

Also, as I had mentioned in my review of the preview of the novel, I found the language a bit clunky at times. I suspect part of that was a translation issue.

There were some redeeming features in the novel, which kept me listening. I liked the character, Fox, and wished there had been more in depth exploration of her. Descriptions of some of the characters were well-done and really brought them to life.

All-in-all, not a bad read, just not a read that compels me to read any other books in this series.
