Mary I loved the dark humor and writing style of Sacre Bleu. The story opens with the murder of Vincent van Gogh by a mysterious colorman who demands the artist give him a painting in payment for the tube of sacred blue oil paint he gave him. When Vincent refuses, the color man shoots him. The scene moves to Paris and the Impressionists and Post Impressionists who frequent its brothels, cafes, and pastry shops. Christopher Moore mingles truth, myth, and fiction to give the reader a wild ride through the past as concerned artists do their best to stop the malevolent colorman and save their sanity as well as their paintings.
