Once again, Fforde astounds me with his brilliance. I wasn't that crazy about this book for the first 1/3 of it, but part of the reason was that it's been quite a few years since I've read Thursday Next and part of it was that I wanted Thursday and not the person who plays her in the books. (If you haven't read the Thursday Next series, this will sound confusing - and make sure you read the books in order.)But the book Thursday grew on me, and truly what more could Fforde do with the real Thursday? The book Thursday allows the reader to experience the book world in all its glorious, comedic zaniness. I continue to be amazed by Fforde's literary knowledge and wit. I love the references to classics but also pop culture in this book. As a former English teacher, how can I not love the puns, the metaphors, the literary allusions, and the famous characters from classic which populate this series?!
